Carolina Flyers Cycling | Charlotte Cycling Team

We are a USCF registered cycling team in Charlotte, North Carolina. Our team members participate in various road and mountain bike races throughout the southeast, non-competitive organized rides, triathlons and a lot of the regular weekly rides around Charlotte.

Carolina Flyers’ mission is to promote cycling for the family in the local community, provide an environment for amateur cyclists to develop their race potential and create a highly competitive team of cyclists to compete in events throughout the southeast

Carolina Flyers Cycling Overview

  • Founded in 2003, Carolina Flyers is an amateur cycling team based in Charlotte, NC
  • In 2008, Carolina Flyers created a Race Team, which consisted of 10 skilled amateur cyclists that competed in local races throughout the area.
  • In 2009, this Race Team grew to 19 top amateur cyclists with impressive results across the Southeast
  • Now in addition to the Race Team, Carolina Flyers has 26 members on the Club/Development Team. This team includes cycling enthusiasts that desire to promote cycling in the Charlotte area through participation in local charity rides and individuals focused on developing their race skills .


Carolina Flyers Accomplishments

  • As a result of creating a Race Team and a Club/Development Team, Carolina Flyers has become one of the largest teams in the region
  • Carolina Flyers participated in over 250 races during the last six seasons
  • Results have been 15 individual race wins and one team win, including an individual North Carolina/South Carolina State championship
  • One Gold Medal in the NC State Games and two Bronze medals in the NC State Championships
  • Raised money through participation in a local charity race to raise money for Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Charlotte Jaycees. Placed first and second in the team competition
  • 2005 we were the top fund raising team for 24 Hours of Booty, raising over $17,000, benefiting the Brain Tumor Fund for the Carolinas and the Lance Armstrong Foundation
  • Organized amateur cycling races in 2006, 2007 and 2008, attracting more than 300 racers in 11 races each year

2010season

2010 Season

  • The expectation for 2010 is to maintain the Race Team membership at 20 members and the Club/Development Team at 26 to 35 members
  • Carolina Flyers plans to sponsor another cycling event in 2010, either an organized race event or a training camp. Regardless of the cycling event, sponsors will receive exposure through advertising for the event and banners placed at the start/finish for the event
